Semester System
All Nations University College operates under the Semester system. Under this system the semester lasts 18 weeks and courses are designed and given enough time for the teaching of courses to be completed in the semester.
Structure of the Semester
Under normal circumstances the Semester shall be structured as follows:
- 17-18 weeks of Teaching
- 1-2 weeks of Examination
The Academic Year
The Academic Year shall normally consist of two semesters and a session which runs during the long vacation as follows:
First semester– August to December
Second semester– January to April
Long vacation – May to July
1st semester starts 3rd week of Aug -3rd week Dec (18 weeks plus registration)
2nd semester starts 2nd week of Jan – 4th week of April (18 weeks)
Long Vacation 2nd week of May -4th week of July (10 weeks: 8 weeks teaching, 1 week registration, 1 week examination)
The annual long vacation session, offers significant opportunities for students to make up for failed courses and /or the required cumulative grade point average (CGPA) for core courses. Students who wish to accelerate their studies and satisfy degree requirements can also use the long vacation session. (where appropriate individual studies will be offered)
ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS
The National Council for Tertiary Education (NCTE), Ghana's directives guide the Admissions Policy for school candidates. All applications to the University College must be accompanied by original transcripts from previous institutions or examination bodies. Awarding institutions must be accredited and recognized by the National Accreditation Board.
1. WASSCE / SSSCE Applicants:
An applicant for admission to a degree programme in the University College must have aggregate 24 or better, with at least passes in Mathematics, English Language, and one of Integrated Science or Social Studies (for non Science and Engineering Programmes, Social Studies may be accepted in lieu of Integrated Science), plus three elective subjects, or their equivalent relevant to the chosen programme.
Candidates with aggregates higher than 24 will NOT be admitted for degree programmes. Such applicants may apply to attend the University College's Pre-University programme.
2. GBCE (General Business Certificate Examination)
Business Administration candidates must have passes in three core subjects including English and Mathematics, and passes in three elective subjects
3. Advanced Level Applicants
Applicants must have at least five passes at O'Level, including English and Mathematics or equivalent, plus at least two passes at the Advanced Level.
4. ABCE (Advanced Business Certificate Examination)
Applicants must have passes in three core subjects plus at least two electives relevant to the programme of study
5. Specific Engineering Requirements
• Applicants for Engineering must have passes in Physics and Chemistry.
• For Biomedical Engineering, Biology may be accepted instead of Chemistry,
• Applicants with passes in Elective Mathematics will be preferred
Applicants who do not have Elective Mathematics must take the Mathematical Foundations programme in lieu of Elective Mathematics
6. Specific Computer Science (Honours) Requirements:
• Applicants for the Computer Science (Honours) programme must have passes in Physics and Chemistry.
• Applicants with passes in Elective Mathematics will be preferred
• Applicants who do not have Elective Mathematics must take the Mathematical Foundations programme in lieu of Elective Mathematics
7. HND: Applicants with Higher National Diploma or Equivalent:
• The HND must be in an area of study relevant to the proposed programme of study.
• Applicants with First (1 st) Class must have at least 1 (one) year of relevant work experience. Successful applicants will be admitted into Level 300
• Applicants with Second (2nd) Class Honors (Upper or Lower Divisions), must have at least 1 (one) year of relevant work experience. Successful applicants will be admitted into Level 200
• Applicants with Third (3rd) Class or lower must have at least 3 years of relevant work experience. Successful applicants will be admitted into Level 100, subject to passing an entry examination / interview.

9. Full Technological Course (FTC):
Applicants with FTC, HNC, or equivalent, must have at least 3 (three) years of relevant work experience. Successful applicants will be admitted to Level 100.
10. Applicants to Diploma or Certificate programmes:
• Applicants to diploma or certificate programmes at the University.
• Successful candidates must pass an internal Diploma Entrance Examination.
11. Mature Applicants:
To qualify as a mature student, an applicant must be at least 25 years old by the date of admission. The mature applicant must also have relevant work experience and relevant education, and Passes in WASSCE / SSCE English and Mathematics, and/or equivalent academic qualifications. Equivalent education includes but is not limited to Teachers' Certificates and short-term diplomas from accredited institutions. Mature students may also be required to pass an internal Mature Students' Entrance Examination.
12. Candidates on Transfer from an Accredited Tertiary Institution:
The University College defines a transfer student as one who has been a registered student in another accredited/registered College or University and made satisfactory progress over one or more academic years in which they intend to transfer. A transfer applicant must submit all official transcripts from all institutions attended to the Office of Admissions. Irrespective of the number of years spent in the previous University, a transfer student may be admitted into levels up to a maximum of Level 300. A transfer student must therefore spend a minimum of 2 calendar years at ANUC to be awarded the University College's degree.
13. In cases not outlined above, a candidate may be required to obtain an Equivalence Letter from the National Accreditation Board to assist the Admissions Board in its decisions.
14. Other combinations of credentials will be analyzed on a case-by-case basis.
15. The relevant academic departments will be consulted in order to determine credits accepted toward the chosen discipline.
INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS
International students may pursue courses at ANUC on a full-time basis. Admission requirements and procedures for international students are the same as outlined above. In addition, every International student must:
- Complete a Financial Statement that clearly demonstrates ability to pay all expenses associated with study at All Nations University College, including tuition, accommodation, books, food, health care, and other expenses.
- Pay tuition, hostel and all other fees in full and in advance, for each academic year, before course registration.
- Submit passports and other travel documents for verification.
- Submit a Police Clearance form from home country.
- Reside in University College-operated hostels.
- Register with the local Ghana Police Service in Koforidua

COURSE REGISTRATION
Please use the following guidelines for registration procedure:
- Cash payments are not accepted.
- Obtain a bankers draft for tuition and hostel fees at any Bank. International students should please contact the Accounts Department for international banks from which fees may be paid. Currently, the University College uses Zenith Bank and United Bank of Africa (UBA), but these may not be available in every country.
- Pay the bankers draft to the Accounts office and obtain an official ANUC receipt.
- Report to your primary department with the official receipt to collect, complete and submit the course registration forms.
- Report to the Office of the Vice-President (Student Affairs) for hostel allocation, where required.
International students must pay their tuition, hostel, and other fees in full (100%) and in advance, before registration.
The fee schedule for local students is as follows:
- Minimum of 25% at registration
- Accumulated minimum of 75% by mid-semester examination.
- 100% prior to final examinations.
RESPONSIBILITY FOR COURSE SELECTION
A student must select courses in accordance with published requirements for his/her degree programme. Some courses have prerequisites or require Departmental approval. These requirements and any other enrollment limitations should be noted carefully prior to registration. Students are advised to consult with their Departments to ensure that selected courses are approved before registration is completed. Academic Counseling is available from selected Faculty members. Please consult with your Department to determine your Academic Counselor for the current academic year.
The University College reserves the right to cancel a students registration if it violates prerequisite chains and /or Departmental approval. Such cancellations will be subject to administrative charges (financial penalty).
PRE-REQUISITE COURSES
A course X is pre-requisite to another course Y,if X must be completed before Y is attempted. This implies that the pre-requisite course X is a foundation to the post-requisite course Y. Students are to note that they will not be registered for a course whose pre-requisites have not been completed.
LATE REGISTRATION DEADLINES AND FEES
Normal registration is to be done BEFORE the first day of classes. There is however a window of time for late registrations, which is approximately two weeks from the first day of classes. Se the Calendar for dates and deadlines for 2008/9 Academic Session.
Any registration after the week of classes will attract late registration fees. Students are advised to register for all courses before classes commence.
Fines for late Registration are as follows:
1st week late - 75Gh Cedis
2nd week late - 150Gh Cedis
In any case, a student may not be registered for a course if the maximum class size has reached for that course. Students are advised to register for courses well in advance.
MINIMUM AND MAXIMUM COURSE LOAD
A full-time student shall be required to carry a minimum course-load of 12 credits and a maximum of 24 credits per semester. This includes repeated courses.
A part-time student shall be required to carry a minimum course-load of 3 credits and a maximum of 9 credits. In addition, a part-time student shall be required to complete the degree programme within a period of not more than 16 semesters (about 8 years).
