The Computer Science & Engineering Program is designed to provide students with fundamental training in the theoretical and practical aspects of computer science. Coupled with the program’s strong mathematics component, the program is designed to provide the student with broad background and understanding of fundamental principles of computing and modern computing technology. Graduates are provided with the necessary background for employment in a wide variety of computing fields including but not limited to; Banks, Insurance, Engineering and Manufacturing companies; Information Management Firms, Non-Governmental / Non-Profit (NGO’s) Organizations and Agencies as well as Government establishments. MISSION The mission of the program is to: Graduate well trained Computer Science & Engineering students with the latest state of the art theoretical & Hands-on experience Become a premiere academic research establishment concentrating on the practical rather than the purely theoretical OBJECTIVES The goals and objectives of the Computer Science and Engineering majors are to train the next generation of computer scientists and engineering with the scientific and technical skills needed for initial employment and a productive career in a rapidly changing environment to provide: A thorough grounding in mathematics and science are the foundation for an understanding of computer science, engineering, and many of the technical applications to which computers are applied, a common core knowledge of the principal areas of computer science (theory, algorithms, data structures, software design, concepts of programming languages, and computer architecture) and an understanding of the fundamentals of one engineering or computer applications discipline. The ability to formulate and solve computer science and engineering problems, include design and analysis, conducting measurements, and evaluating trade-offs of functionality and cost, Outstanding skills in programming and good engineering practices of software development, and the ability to use modern design and analysis tools for implementing and evaluating hardware, software, and engineering designs, provide the ambitious student with an adequate base from which to pursue a graduate program in computer science PROGRAMS OFFERED Undergraduate BSc. Computer Science [Full Time] BE. Computer Engineering [Full Time/Weekends] Certificate Information Communication Technology - One year Others Special Computer literacy and professional course every Summer vacation. This is done for both students and the community. Program Completion Criteria Students seeking the four-year general degree in Computer Science must successfully complete at least 120 credit hours to obtain the B.Sc degree in Computer Science & Engineering. These include 42 credits in ANU general education, 90 credit hours in core Computer Science Courses 12 Credit hours of Mathematics. The normal course load for the four year Programme is as follows:
Transfer students admitted to higher levels must complete the minimum required credit hours as specified in the general academic guideline. The Curricula Developing implementing and updating curricula are the responsibilities of the University Faculty and Academic Administrators. The curriculum is the Vehicle through which the ANU seeks to make its most significant impact upon the lives of students. The curricular offering of each of ANU’s three departments and major are clearly and accurately described in the sections that follow and being published into a university catalog to be made available during admissions. Entry Requirements A’ Level Candidates must have credit passes in five (5) subjects including English Language, Mathematics, a Science subject and Arts subject at ‘O’ Level and three (3) passes at the Advanced Level including at least one pass at grade D or better.SHS Candidates must have aggregate 24 or better in six subjects consisting of Core English, Core Mathematics and another core subject and three (3) elective subjects. Holders of H.N.D whose fields of study have some relevance to our programmes will be considered for admission. The General Education Requirement A general Education requirement for a Bachelors Degree at ANU covers 5 areas: computer and technology, English and Communications, Mathematics and Quantitative methods, Humanities and Social Sciences and Christianity. DEPARTMENT OF BIOMEDICAL ENGINEERING
INTRODUCTION
BME is the application of physical and engineering principles and methods to biology in medical field. It combines the design and problem solving skills of engineering with medical and biological sciences to improve healthcare diagnosis and treatment.
ACADEMICS
The department of Biomedical Engineering was established in the year 2006 (first in West Africa) for the purpose of contributing to the growing health needs of Ghana in the area of hospital equipment and technical expertise. Our teaching and research focus for this department is to equip students with the knowledge required for effective contribution to national development in the areas of design of medical instruments, devices and software, and to conduct research to solve clinical problems.

Career opportunities both in Ghana and overseas include hospitals, biotechnology companies, medical equipment manufacturers, research institutes, teaching, regulatory authorities (e.g. FDA), and government health departments. Many Biomedical Engineering students go on to do further study in either Masters or PhD degrees.

Goals and ObjectivesANU’s general-education program in Electronics and Communication has 4 main goals:
To provide quality education this meets international standards.
To produce high quality managers, scientists and innovators for their nations, with Christian values.
To conduct International conferences, technical workshops, and meetings of minds towards more scientific advancement
To motivate every student to strive for their highest possible achievements
To set up high quality research centres for innovation and creativity
To motivate every faculty to publish quality refereed technical papers yearly.

Where are they in the country’s occupational structure?
Graduates are provided with the strong background (Academic, Industrial & Total Personality Development) for employment in a wide variety of Electronics as well as Communication fields including the modern technology like VLSI, Embedded Systems, mobile computing. This would help them either to be a successful entrepreneur or to serve MNCs, Engineering, and Manufacturing companies; Non-Government/Non-Profit (NGO’s) organizations and Agencies as well as Government establishments.

So far, our graduates have 100% employability. Our graduates work in various organizations including MTN, Kasapa, ECG, Ghana Telecom, VRA, CocaCola, among many other companies.
DEPARTMENT OF BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION
INTRODUCTION
The Business Administration department was a foundation department which started in November 2002, with an intake of 20 regular students, which has grown over 891 (comprising of 640 regular and 251 part time students.)
The Department of Business Administration is the largest in terms of : Student Population Lecturers and Technical Instructors Employee Stability Highest number of Graduates Best out going student of the University First SRC President Best Lecturer award for 2006 - 2007ACCREDITATION AND CURRICULUM
The Business Administration program is fully accredited by the National Accreditation Board, and offers a Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) with the following options:
1) Accounting
2) Banking and Finance
3) Marketing
4) Human Resource Management
5) Entrepreneurial Studies We are currently exploring the creation of new options that are relevant to today's financial trends in Ghana.
Our curriculum was revised in 2003, Sep 2004, Sep 2005 and July 2008, to keep up with normal trends in Business education globally. We have revised our basic and elective curricula to embrace emerging concepts in modern day conventional and internet-based business applications.
INTERNSHIP AND SUMMER PROGRAMMES
Formerly our fifth semester students did internships every Friday, but our revised programme involves active internships by the 5th and 6th semesters during the long vacation. The department runs a summer programme for workers which now attracts over 300.

Four graduates of the ANU Business Administration programme were sponsored in the year 2006 to Karunya University to pursue their Masters in Business Administration (MBA) and three students were sponsored in 2007 to SRM University for further studies.
FUTURE PLANS
The Department plans to begin graduate programmes in Business Administration. There will be 2 tracks for the graduate programme:
1) as a twining programme with SRM University of India
2) as an independent programme affiliated to Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), Kumasi. Launching into a graduate programme will lead to the creation of our School of Business.
PROPOSALS
To contribute to the development of critical skills for corporate Ghana, we will offer short-term training for managers and supervisors in 2009.
