PARENTS' DAY

In an attempt to draw parents and the school together in a web of unity, the inspiring parent’s day was organized by the student’s affairs department, on the 14th of March 2009. The turn out was encouraging as parents came to the school with high hopes of knowing what was in store for them? The mistress of ceremony was Miss Chioma Udeoye a Nigerian by nationality and a student of the Biomedical Engineering department. Parents were taken off their feet as the various heads of department took them through what the university is impacting into their wards. The various courses were explained into details to let parents understand that their wards are at the right place.

The President of the university, Rev. Dr. Samuel Donkor addressed parents, giving them a thorough break down of activities and plans that are being implemented in the school, some of these are the introduction of comprehensive University Management Software which will enable parents and sponsors to remotely log in to review the academic and non-academic progress of students, from the comfort and convenience of their homes and offices all over the world. This can be done without hassles, phone call or travel, and log on to the parent’s web site to view the examination results, Grade Point Average, and other details that hitherto have been elusive.

Parents were then bossed to the new site to observe the progress of the building projects that are under way. All were amazed at the progress of the university and some were inspired to contribute to the building of the new site. The Parents Day Celebration outcome, His Excellency Engr. Dr. Obong Chris Ekpenyong of Nigeria was selected by the University president, to be the president of the parents association.
It was also decided that the Parents Day Celebration will be a luncheon following matriculation exercise for each year forward! It is the hope and prayer of the vice president student’s affairs Ms. Geraldene Massey that, the Parents Day will involve parents in the overall well being of the University.

Parents were appreciated by the school for allowing their wards to come to the university. The university gave them a lunch reception, and sovenouirs, for them to know how important they are to the university. At the end of the program, parents who were able to make it to the programme felt at home with the paradigm that All Nations University College is really the best place for anyone aspiring for a first class tertiary education to be.
