WAKE UP CALL TO ALL MY FRIENDS
Each year several individuals, male and female, enroll for College/University education or graduate from such institutions of higher learning with dreams of becoming Engineers, Bankers, Doctors, Professional designers, Computer wizards, Business executives, Pharmacists, Socialists and several others in the world of work.
Others become unemployed and underemployed as a result of the relatively fewer job opportunities available in their country, precisely in Ghana.
But my worry for the past few years has been the plight of the less privilege; I mean the street Children, the Orphans, Disabled beggars, the hungry poor, the unemployed poor not to talk about our choked gutters, the moral decadence among the youth and several others.
Now my question is, are the young individuals of my contemporary only interested in office work after tertiary education, going outside the country for greener pastures or is that our educational system, the media, the church, Our non governmental organizations and the government has failed in curbing this pertinent issues in making Ghana and for that matter the African continent a better place to live in?
I reasoned, if only school going persons will not only be interested in the certificates given them at the end of their study but will go further in using the knowledge acquired in the classroom and lecture halls in finding possible solutions to the ever increasing level of street children, high moral degradation and degeneration coupled with an indifference attitude towards work. Again if only my friends will desist from totally entrusting their fate in politicians; If the electronic and print media will not only be interested in stories and news about hardcore politics, and unfruitful debates but will serve as a social front and platform for which issues full of trauma and heart breaking are addressed for redress; if the church will give themselves to prayer and soul winning rather than the countless times of organizing fund raising all in the name of the church is run with money; if Pastors, Reverend ministers, Bishops, Archbishops and Priests will not be dogmatically inclined with the sheer desire to ride in the latest and nicest vehicles but will be concerned about people as the kingdom of the Lord is people centered.
Lastly if the government as well as our political parties will be sincere, frank and honest to the public, then believe you me our country and for that matter mother Africa will be on a sustained path towards a blissful society where posterity, all and sundry can lift up heads high with an honest hope for the future.
The trumpet sounds, a wake up call is proclaimed.
